For the past 12 years we have bred and raised Labradors Retrievers for pets, the Show Ring and for Hunting.
Jim purchased our first Labrador, Maggie (Hampshires Stormcraft), 11 years ago from Mel Pfeifle (Hampshire Kennels) in Bradford, New Hampshire. Maggie is out of Ch. Hampshires Witchcraft x Lillimars Power of Love. In 1997 we purchased our Chocolate Stud Dog, Jed (Windy Ridge Hillbilly Boy) from Mel. Jed is out of Hampshires Blue Angel x Hampshires Hayden. By this time, we were ready to try the show ring. Jed went on to win most of his puppy classes and 12-18 month classes.
In 1998 we bred Jed to our friends bitch, Academy Brooks Brandy, and from that litter we kept Hannah (Windy Ridge Hillbillys Girl). Hannah has done extremely well in the show ring. She loves to show. In the summer of 2001, Hannah was bred to CH. Erin Hills Top of the Morning JH. We kept a male, Ace, and a female, Lacey from that litter.
We also have one daughter from of Maggie; Morgan (Windy Ridge Hillbillys Baby) and Maggie's grandaughter, Jessie. (Windy Ridge Full Eclipse). Both love to hunt pheasant as well as duck and geese.. Its tough for Jim to leave the house on weekends in the fall since he can only take one or two dogs with him.
We are proud of our offspring and we take pride in producing quality, easy-temperament Labrador Retrievers.
Although we feel our dogs are quite wonderful to look at, the most important requirement of our breeding program is temperament. We will never breed a dog with anything less than the perfect Labrador temperament as we keep puppies out of each litter. We have to live with them too!!! Our Labradors no matter what color they are have the same wonderful temperament. Our Labradors are the English style type. This means our dogs have broad head and bodies and have thick coats, just as a Labrador is supposed to have. Our dogs have deep bodies, which sometimes gives the illusion of shorter legs, but they are still as tall as the required heights of the English breed standard as well as the AKC breed standard.
